I remember.

Having little cousins 13 and under, I have always thought about how they never really knew a world without the Internet or cell phones. They never learned the tones of a modem dialing out to an ISP. They never flipped through an actual encyclopedia… or even a CD-Rom based one. They never knew of a time when, if someone wasn’t home… well you just couldn’t get a hold of them until they were. And they never had an actual tape based Walkman… in fact some of the younger ones have probably never had a Discman. They have completely grown up in the digital age and never knew of a time when you couldn’t buy a random song online any time you wanted. And those are just the basic things. Well Wired finally wrote an article about just that. There’s even the story about this kid trying to figure out how to use a Walkman from a little while ago. Though he seems like he might just be a little dumb.

But really… remember when you couldn’t write something on the Internet for the entire world to see? When you couldn’t carry around thousands of songs with you where ever you went… or quite literally have access to the knowledge of the entire world sitting in your pocket? If I’m not mistaken… I think we’re living in the future right now.
